SIIB 3-9×42 HHR

For those looking for a basic hunting scope but tired of wonky optics, poor tracking and mediocre low light performance, the SII Big Sky 3-9X42 will make you very happy.

Sightron has really moved the fence posts on what optic quality in a mid priced scope should be. The clarity, resolution, brightness of these Big Sky scopes compare favorably to some very high priced 30mm optics. Yes, they are that good.

At 9X, I have no problem resolving the grout line on a chimney at over 700yds. That is sharp optics

The knobs are finger adjustable and low profile. They can be used to dial for a LR shot but not ideal as there are no markings on the inner sleeve so you will get lost if dialing more then 1 revolution. BUT in a pinch, they can work.

I really like the HHR reticle and this is Sightrons Bullet Drop Compensating reticle. It allows for quick holdover at various ranges. I just set my mag so that the reticle coincides with drop at 200, 300 and 425 yds…. simple.

Like any Second Focal Plane Scope, the spacing will change as you change the magnification so you need to measure in the field what the actual affect on target will be.

This scope sits on my walkabout hunting rifle and I really enjoy the long eye relief, very easy to use eye box, great image and simplicity. Same basic size, and weight as other scopes of this mag range so fitting on most hunting rifles is simple
